Candace Owens Claps Back at Eminem’s Diss Track: Calls Him “Lame and Desperate”
Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), has stirred up controversy, particularly with a diss aimed at conservative commentator Candace Owens. In his song “Lucifer,” Eminem doesn’t hold back, delivering a scathing critique of Owens, which has prompted a sharp response from the outspoken pundit.
Eminem’s lyrics in “Lucifer” include lines such as: “Or save this MAGA dirt bag in a skirt / Just opened the biggest worms on the planet earth / Call her Grand Wizard, Klandace or Grand Dragon / Like the National Anthem, I won’t stand for the tramp.” Owens was quick to react, appearing on “The TMZ Podcast” on July 12 to share her thoughts.
Owens recounted her reaction to hearing the diss for the first time, saying, “I could not have laughed harder when somebody sent this to me. I just think it is so lame. He has now cemented himself as a lame person.” She likened Eminem’s attempt to connect with Black audiences to Hillary Clinton’s infamous “hot sauce” moment, suggesting that the rapper’s efforts were a transparent attempt to stay relevant by aligning himself against her due to her support for Donald Trump.
“Eminem is so desperate to show Black people he’s real,” Owens remarked, accusing him of pandering. She argued that his career is waning and that he’s resorting to dissing her in a bid to maintain his relevance. Owens didn’t mince words about Eminem’s age and perceived decline, stating, “He’s just aged out. It’s time for Eminem to hang it up.”
The rapper’s verse continues with: “But I can’t diss her ’cause my plans are to get in her pants and I’ll blow my chance if I answer back to her.” Owens dismissed this part of the lyric, adding that Eminem should focus on more meaningful pursuits rather than attempting to engage her in such a manner.
Eminem’s new album also features jabs at other public figures, including Diddy, Bruce Jenner, Ja Rule, and the late actor Christopher Reeve. Despite the array of targets, Owens’ response has garnered significant attention due to her vocal presence and the direct nature of Eminem’s attack.
The controversy has sparked a debate on social media, with fans and critics alike weighing in. Many of Eminem’s supporters argue that his diss tracks are a staple of his music, known for their biting and unapologetic nature. Conversely, Owens’ fans have rallied behind her, praising her for standing up to the rapper.
This incident adds another layer to the ongoing discourse around Eminem’s career and the provocative content of his music. As both Owens and Eminem continue to command large followings, this clash of ideologies is likely to remain a hot topic in the cultural conversation. Whether this exchange will lead to further musical responses or social media sparring remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly kept both figures in the public eye.
