Small earthquake rattles East Bay region near two reservoirs

ORINDA — A small earthquake rolled through Orinda on Saturday, a seismic event near two reservoirs in the East Bay, officials reported.

The quake was measured at a magnitude of 2.6, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake occurred at about 11:37 a.m. on Saturday, the Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported the quake was located about 2.6 miles northwest of Orinda. The quake’s depth was about 5.3 miles.

The nearest street is Monte Vista Ridge Road. The nearest major intersection is the interchange of State Route 84 and Camino Pablo Road.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported. At least 50 people reported to the U.S. Geological Survey that they had felt the earthquake.

San Pablo Reservoir and Briones Reservoir are located a few miles from the epicenter, according to the information released by the USGS.
