Emeryville police arrest woman for alleged stabbing at a Chick-fil-A

EMERYVILLE — Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of an alleged stabbing of a man in his neck as he dined outdoors at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Emeryville in what was described as an unprovoked attack.

Anastasia Magganas, 35, an Oakland resident, was identified as the suspect in the stabbing, which occurred on May 20, according to the Emeryville Police Department.

Police took Magganas into custody without incident on Monday, May 27 around 7:45 a.m., police said.

Magganas was booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, according to police.

Police officers from Emeryville and Oakland responded on May 20 to the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 1525 40th Street.

Investigators reviewed a surveillance video and determined that a woman walked by a man who was dining in the outdoor area of the Chick-fil-A on 40th Street in Emeryville.

The surveillance video showed that the woman cut the victim’s neck with an unknown object.

The stabbing caused only a minor injury. The unidentified victim refused treatment at the site.

The suspect was then seen walking down 40th Street following the unprovoked attack.

Emeryville police and Oakland police said they worked together to investigate the attack.

Investigators booked Magganas on suspicion of an assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
