MANILA, Philippines — With National University a win closer to clinching a Final Four berth, setter Lams Lamina urges the Lady Bulldogs to focus on the present and stay consistent for the remainder of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball elimination round.

NU dominated University of the East, which didn’t score a single block and an ace, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12, to earn its third straight win and secure at least a playoff for a Final Four berth.

Lamina, who dished out 13 excellent sets, said they may be peaking at the right time but they have to keep on improving.

SCHEDULE: UAAP Season 86 volleyball second round

“Tingin ko, mag-fo-focus lang talaga kami sa present and yung mindset talaga namin everyday is mag-improve lang po,” said the third-year setter.

The Season 84 Best Setter credited the collective effort of the Lady Bulldogs, led by Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen, who scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, to improve to solo third place with an 8-2 record.

“I’m very happy sa result ng game namin kasi lahat nagcontribute, hindi lang yung skills but also yung spirit ng team,” Lamina said.

Belen and Solomon believe their team is peaking at the right time thanks to their hard work in practice and determination to reclaim the crown this year.

“Yung naging trend po ng performance ng team namin is talagang paakyat kahit may talo kami nung last round. Nakita namin yung performance namin na every game, paunti-unting nagiimprove and happy ako kasi parang nag-pi-peak kami at the right time,” said the Season 84 Rookie-MVP.

“Andoon yung gigil, at the same time, parang inuunti unti namin yung process kasi parang kapag the more na minamadali mo yung isang bagay, the more na parang di mo makukuha yung goal na yun,” Solomon added.

Lamina agreed to her batchmates, putting a premium on consistency as NU plays its last four games of the elimination round, facing Ateneo on Wednesday next week.

“Since sabi nga po ni Belle na nagppeak po kami sa right time, siguro importante din talaga yung consistency every day and sa game,” Lamina said.
