It’s not very often that new items get added to the menu at Five Guys, as let’s face it, they do what they do pretty darn well.

But one thing that does get switched up at the American burger chain every so often is the flavours on offer for milkshakes.

The company, which first launched in the UK in 2013, recently changed up the drinks menu, swapping out the pistachio milkshakes and adding two brand new varieties for spring — mango and raspberry flavours — which sound pretty dreamy!

And if the milkshakes weren’t already popular enough (some social media users have gone as far as to boldly claim they are ‘the best’), an insider has just revealed how you can take your order to the next level, and it won’t cost you a penny extra to do.

According to a Five Guys spokesperson, this milkshake trick is something many customers have been missing out on during visits to the restaurants, as they simply didn’t know it existed (and I have to confess, it’s not something I’d ever heard about until today, either.)

The spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Our decadent milkshakes are completely customisable. Customers can combine any of the mix-ins, allowing over 1,000 ways for them to fully enjoy their delicious shake from our existing ingredients list.

‘Those feeling adventurous can mix all 11 ingredients. Yes, that does include bacon! You can create some phenomenal flavours with our combinations.’

Current flavour options on the menu at all Five Guys UK branches include mango, chocolate, banana, raspberry, strawberry, salted caramel, Oreo cookie pieces, Biscoff, bacon, vanilla, and peanut butter.

So if you wanted to you could order a chocolate and salted caramel milkshake, or go wild and opt for vanilla, bacon and peanut butter.

On X (formerly Twitter), one fan claims that combining a chocolate milkshake with bacon is ‘phenomenal’, while a different user recommended peanut butter and strawberry. Someone else claimed Biscoff and salted caramel as a pairing was ‘the one’.

There are more than 150 Five Guys locations across the UK and the rest of the chain’s menu is also completely customisable, so you can have your burger, hot dog, or grilled cheese exactly the way you want it.

According to the insider, there are also a whopping 250,000 ways you can customise your order with free toppings for the mains and sides. Even the fries have two different options (Cajun spiced or salted) and they come in a variety of sizes.

And if you’re a fan of American burger joints, another US chain recently announced they were launching a brand new menu for the very first time in the UK.

Shake Shack, which currently has 15 restaurants in the UK, plus several delivery-only kitchens, has revealed it’s going to be launching a permanent breakfast selection here from April 2.

Previously, breakfast has only ever been available in the UK at Gatwick Airport, so only those who had made their way through security ahead of jetting off were able to try it.

As well as the three breakfast burgers already offered at Gatwick (the Sausage, Egg N’ Cheese, Bacon, Egg N’ Cheese, and the Egg N’ Cheese) the menu will feature two brand new items — the Wake Up Shack, a beast of a burger comprised of griddled egg, applewood-smoked bacon, American cheese, tater tots and Shack breakfast sauce, as well as Breakfast Tots (crispy potatoes) served with the breakfast Shack sauce.
